almost!! Today's anniversary flashback is simple but sweet...A picture of me and one of John at our reception. I remember getting ready at the church and it was time for pictures and John was still changing. I told my dad..."go get John we're running late" and he told me..."you can go get him", I said..."he's not dressed"..and he said, "you're married now, it doesn't matter"... can I tell you that hit me like a ton of bricks!! For three years it was no,no, no touchy and in a matter of minutes and a few beautiful chosen words...it was like OK...go ahead, you can now see each other in your "G's"...needless to stay I was a little taken back, but I marched right in there and the rest is history!! :) So here's John and I at the reception, after he took his time getting dressed, but as you can see it was worth the wait ;)...13 days to go!!

Now the presenting the winning All-stars of the Soda Springs tournament...this is the 2nd of three tournaments Jace is doing this summer with his team. They did great. John took Jace and Justin over on Friday and they only won one out of three games. Then on Saturday morning we all loaded up and headed back over there and they ended up winning all three and took that championship!!Good job boys!! They have one more over in Hailey, but Jace is going to ride over with some great neighbors, the Petersons. So that will be fun for him, a little vacation, since we probably won't be going very far this year!!

Now for the drowning...Jace had about a four hour wait till his last game, so we drove over by Hooper Springs...a place where carbonated water comes straight out of the ground, it's a natural spring. When I was a little girl and we lived in Soda, we would sometime take a big jug and some kool-aid and make it all carbonated. It's pretty nasty straight though. The mosquitoes were awful so we snapped a few quick pics and headed to Lava!!!

My belly gets all nervous just thinkin' about what happened next...Over in Lava they have places where you can rent tubes and float down the Portneuf River. Looked like soo much fun so we decided to give it a try. My sis Steph and her family did it a few years ago and had alot of fun, so I thought...no problem. The boys put on their life jackets and off they took. John took Halle in 2-person tube and I took Hannah in a 2-person tube - mistake #1. Hannah and I took off before John and Halle - mistake #2. We were doing ok, Hannah was pretty scared, to me the river was moving really fast and we kept floating to the edge over the longest drop of all the rapids - mistake #3. Well we were almost to the end and we went over a rapid and tipped over....this is where I almost drowned. The water was only about to my waist, but I COULD NOT get my legs under me to stand up and the water kept knocking me on my fat ass!! I started screaming at people to get my little girl. Hannah was okay, she grabbed the edge and pulled her self to the shore and then went into full hysterics. I seriously was scared...I kept getting knocked down and huge mouth fulls of water as I'm trying to scream for help and hold on to my tube. Finally I just let it go and these two strong young men helped me up and one gave me his tube which I jumped on and floated it a ways down. I fell off again...but literally crawled on my hands and knees over rocks to the edge. By this time John had reached Hannah and calmed her down. I was in shock. I was wearin' shorts and the elastic broke ( I had a swimsuit on underneath, thank goodness) and when I finally stood up my shorts were down around my knees. I looked like a freaked out, drowned rat. Everyone kept asking what happened? And you know what....I DON"T KNOW!! To me the water was moving so fast, it caught me off guard, I was worried about Hannah, I'm totally out of shape, just a whole bunch of things. Any way I ended up with a cut & bruised leg and thigh, but my pride was hurt most of all. Tons of people were floating, not wearing life jackets and having no problems what so ever!! Again, I don't no what my problem was, all I know that it was so scary!! I am so thankful that those boys helped me. After we went back to the car I started to get a little freaked out and have had a hard time sleeping. All I can think about is what if I would have had Halle, she couldn't have helped herself like Hannah did, yes she had a life jacket on, but I couldn't have saved her, and then what if no one would've have helped me. I wake up to or three times a night gasping for air. It has really affected me in a strange way...I know I tend to be a little over dramatic at times but to me this was one of the scariest moments of my life. I felt really helpless and really scared. So time will help and we plan on doing it again later this summer. The boys had a blast. They made 2 or 3 runs in the hour we had. BUT...I will do the following...#1 - wear tennis shoes #2 - wear a life jacket #3 - I will not take Hannah and Halle again till they are way older #4 - ride in a single person tube #5 - and hold onto John's tube for dear life!!!! I know I seem like a baby...my sis-in-law fell out and had no problem. Crazy? Yea I know...I just don't know what happened and need to try to forget about the "what-ifs"!! So here's a few pics of the boys who had alot of fun...

Looking at the pictures...does the water look like it's moving fast to you?? Just wondering. And my leg...Johns like "it's not that bad" and he's right...but it hurts still, and it's all bruised, and I'm a baby!!

So there it is in all it's glory!! Wish me luck next time!! So thankful for... 1) life jackets - which I will wear now ANY time I'm near water 2) John's last day of work is today, we now get to spend four days together, staying up late and sleeping in 3) chocolate ice cream, my favorite, and I read somewhere it helps heal cuts and bruises, so I'm eating lots to heal faster {big sigh}...yea right, I wish!!

3 friends visiting our little house:
OH MY GOSH....I'm so sorry that happened to you! How scary!! I am so glad you are all ok...I remember when we were white water rafting in Colorado with our ward...our raft got flipped and I got stuck UNDERNEATH the dang thing...The stupid water kept pushing me under, I couldn't get out from underneath....it was the scariest thing EVER...my dad was stuck between some rocks, he had the ugliest bruise all down his back....I love being in the water, but HATE when scary things like that happened!! Maybe we should stick to "walking" the river in Island Park!! :) Glad everyone is ok! I love your update for your anniversary...it is really the cutest idea!!
I am SOOO glad you are ok. I totally understand where you are coming from. I remember going whitewater rafting a couple of years ago with some friend up Jackson, WY. We hit the part that they call "The Taco".. it is called that because your fold like a Taco and I went under. It was soooo scary! I am so glad you are ok. I hope Hannah isnt scared for life! Water is so fun but can be so scary! I think Jaclyn is right... lets keep with walking the Snake River!
Chris..I swear you always brighten my day! I'm so sorry about your water catastrophie....so scarey. I can feel your fear. Once when I was wake boarding, I fell flat on my face really hard, and knocked myself out cold. When I came to, it scared the he__ out of me. The boat crew had no idea I was floating there like the dead....they just laughed at me, when I hobbled back into the boat. Needless to say.....boating has never had the same thrill for me since. I'm glad you are o.k. I know your story wasn't funny, but you made my ribs hurt this morning!
